Music is my religion and harmony is the reason I wake up each morning. Music is the one friend who has always, since day one, been by my side. Music has never disappointed me. Oftentimes, I am at a loss for words. I am never at a loss for music. There is always a phrase or melody, a song or a composition, that will express exactly what I'm feeling.
I am a career violinist, both a performer and teacher. The violin is such a versatile instrument, the most like the human voice, I believe. Violinists are not confined by keys or frets. We create our own tone (within the limitations of the quality of our instrument) and we have access to not only accurate pitch, but perfect or imperfect pitch. We can use this to our advantage for phrasing, color, etc. It is a wonderful and noble instrument, yet limited in it's ability to create a complete harmonic picture. Harmony is the reason I wake up each morning, so I am now learning the piano and pursuing education in composition at Berklee. The discovery of the glory of harmony and the thrill of composition has me wondering if I am now close to being self actualized.
Two truths: I will forever be a student and my music is unforgettable. I am always learning, always getting better, and my work next year will be much better than my work today. My melodies are memorable and I am able to paint any kind of musical picture you can imagine. Deep melancholy, heated drama, shimmering peace, a vast landscape, a cultural revolution or a natural disaster are evoked by my melodies, notes and orchestration skills. I am easy to work with. I am punctual, hardworking and am able to meet or beat deadlines. I am personable and kind. I am not only a composer, but a performing musician as well. I understand what it's like to be on both sides of the podium. I write music for films and television and my portfolio is always expanding and blossoming.

Violinist/Fiddler/Composer Eileen Markland is a trained and registered Suzuki Music Educator. With a beautiful tone, avant- guard sensibility and solid multi genre expertise including Celtic, Classical, Bluegrass, Gypsy, Jazz, Kirtan and improvisation in any style, her playing is lively and inspired. She is a Berklee trained composer and arranger, specializing in music accompanying visual media. Her melodies are unique and memorable. Eileen is personable and kind, punctual, hardworking, focused and able to meet or beat deadlines. Her portfolio of compositions extends across genres and mediums. As both a performing musician and composer, she truly understands what it's like to be on both sides of the podium.
